On an annual basis, the Gates Cambridge initiative provides 80 fully financed scholarships to outstanding individuals from outside the UK. These scholarships enable recipients to enroll in postgraduate study in any topic offered by the educational institution of Cambridge. PhD students receive approximately a third of these funds, with 25 awarded to US candidates and 55 for overseas applicants.

Fully Funded Scholarship Offered By Gates Cambridge Fellowship 2024
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship’s purpose is to create worldwide connections of future leaders committed to improving people’s lives. The program seeks to fulfill this objective by selecting extraordinary students, providing them with financial and non-financial assistance at one of the world’s top universities, and encouraging community-building actions both during and after their time at Cambridge.
Established in October 2000 with a landmark contribution of US$210 million from the Gates family’s foundation, the first cohort of Gates Cambridge Students began learning in October 2001. Since its beginning, over 2,000 grants have been given to students from over 100 countries.

Additional Benefits
- Educational advancement funding: £500 to £2,000, contingent upon course length, for visiting conferences or taking supplementary courses.

- Fieldwork: PhD candidates may request to keep their each month’s allowance during study. However, the Foundation does not support any additional fieldwork fees, which should be incorporated into the institution’s Composition Fee.
- Parental or maternity funding: Scholars who require maternity leave can submit an application for a maximum of 6 months of pause while receiving their maintenance stipend.
- Hardship money is available for unanticipated financial issues that arise during the award’s time.
